Painting, sculpture, drawing ... the new 2016 Paris autumn cultural season has an impressive line-up of exhibitions. The works of major artists will be on show in Parisian museums: René Magritte at the Centre Pompidou with ‘La Trahison des images’ (‘The Treachery of Images’), four decades after the major retrospective of 1979. The five motifs fire, shadows, curtains, words and the fragmented body are omnipresent references in the work of the Belgian artist, and are present in both his well-known and less-well-known works. At the Musée Jacquemart-André, the exhibition ‘Rembrandt, les années décisives’ traces the three key stages of the artist’s work.

Great classics of French literature revisited and captivating ballets, the Musicals playing in Paris offer unforgettable moments. At the Théâtre Mogador, the blockbuster musical The Fantôme de l'Opéra (Phantom of the Opera), a romantic masterpiece, staged for the first time in France, and in French. A French musical, in a British spirit, will also be showing at the sumptuous Salle Gaveau! A troupe of 15 actors, singers and dancers and a 7-piece orchestra bring to life the classic tale of Oliver Twist, by Charles Dickens. In December, you will be touched by the magic of the Cirque du Soleil’s show Varekai.
