Paris What's Up Day 2023 - an exclusive learning expedition

Here are the main themes and the partners present, presented or visited during the Paris What's Up Day 2023.

The second edition of Paris What's Up Day, organized by Paris je t’aime - Convention Bureau, with the Paris Region Tourism Board and Atout France, ended on Friday, 21 April 2023, after 2 days of meetings, exchanges, and new discovery of new venues.

A unique occasion to explore the Paris destination and its new MICE offerings on the theme of the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games. On the eve of this event, Paris continues to evolve into an ever more sustainable and engaged city, inspired by sporting values.

Street sports come to the Games

JOP 2024 - Breaking - Breakdance, Paris

The 2024 Olympics will mark the entrance of new disciplines. Paris has places open to these disciplines, often born in the street: breaking, skateboarding and sport climbing. Inspiring places for new events, new neighbourhoods, and creative professionals.

The Centquatre-Paris, an historical and cultural venue, is also a major meeting and training point for breaking athletes: every day, there is a lively mix of activities, from the most academic to the most dynamic. The vast spaces become a showroom, a seminar room, a reception area, a catwalk, a performance hall … the possibilities are endless! In a more sporting vein, take your teams to the Five Paris 18th sport centre. Intended for sport, they can also be privately hired for corporate events. Beach volleyball is coming to Paris! Sand Fabrik is offering the first covered beach in France, with a 1,000m² area dedicated to the practice of sports on sand, but also to corporate events. 

Finally, sport climbing, one of the additional sports for Paris 2024, is ideally suited to team-building activities: the two sites of Climb Up Aubervilliers are great places to get a taste of this spectacular discipline which is nevertheless accessible to everyone.

The North of Paris, epicentRE of the Olympics and Paralympics

The Olympic Village and several of the sports venues for the Games are located north of Paris.

These developing districts, which will be the epicentre of the Games before becoming new centres of attraction and event venues. To get into these areas early, consider the Docks de Paris, a listed national cultural heritage site. These historic former warehouses and general stores in Paris offer 8,500 m² of fully flexible space and make up one of the largest convention centres in the capital.

Plantation Paris - Rooftop

To create committed and tailor-made events, discover Plantation Paris, a 7,000 m² rooftop urban farm offering a superb room for events and receptions as well as a magnificent terrace. An original location with a vegetable garden and greenhouse on one side and a panoramic view of Montmartre on the other.

Ahead of the Games, the Plaine Commune Tourist Office is offering visits to The Project House at the Athletes Village so that everyone can learn about the project.

MAKE THE GAMES PART OF YOUR EVENT

The Olympic and Paralympic Games are two 15-day periods of extraordinary entertainment during which Paris welcomes the world! But it is also about values and a magnificent heritage that will give meaning and inspiration to your corporate events, now and in the years to come.

Some places know how to bring meaningful events to life. Discover the unique campus of Maison du Handball: the national training centre for the national handball teams. For events at the heart of sport, this place offers you its facilities for a residential seminar, with sports sessions, motivational speeches by athletes or trainers, and an awareness of disability sports, ending on a high note with the ‘Olympiade party’!

The Accor Arena, a huge modular and ultra-modern venue, welcomes major international sporting events every year. In 2024, it will host the basketball (photo above), artistic gymnastics, trampoline gymnastics, and wheelchair basketball events. Private events for up to 20,000 people can be held here.

Tucked away inside the Accor Arena, Phantom, the capital’s new festive event venue, will be the place for events and evenings of music, art, and partying.

Finally, the Laho Business Center is ideal for combined events due to its immediate proximity to the Accor Arena. The venue offers an auditorium, meeting rooms and a large rooftop with a view over the Seine.

To the west of Paris, the historic sports district

Since the 1924 Olympics, Paris has hosted many international sporting events. The Molitor swimming pool, today the Molitor MGallery Hotel Collection, was inaugurated in 1929 by the American swimmers Johnny Weissmuller and Aileen Riggin Soule, multiple Olympic medallists in Paris in 1924. The agency Anima organizes team-building events here around the historic pool and changing rooms. 

A competition venue for the Paris 2024 Olympics and a renowned tennis venue in Paris, the Stade Roland Garros is open for visits with the agency Cultival. Next to the Stade Roland Garros, the Pavillon des Princes is a historical place that had a complete makeover in 2017.  It can be used to combine prestigious receptions at the venue for Olympic tennis, boxing, and wheelchair tennis competitions.

The west of Paris in particular has been developed with many stadiums and facilities and today offers a wide range of sites suitable for all types of events, from the most exclusive and prestigious to the most unusual or conventional.
