PARIS sets a new attendance record for international congresses in 2017

The International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA) is an international organization specialized in the association meetings industry. It has just released its annual Statistics Report with a ranking of congress destinations, basing the study on three criteria for eligible meetings: they must take place on a regular basis, rotate between a minimum of three countries, and have at least fifty participants.

Paris ranks second, tied with Vienna and behind Barcelona. The French capital has hosted in 2017 a total of 190 ICCA eligible congresses and has gathered 112 000 participants, compared with 196 meetings and 74 586 participants in 2016.

The capital sees its number of participants rise by more than 50 %. This variation is positive for the attractiveness of the destination and beneficial to the Parisian professionals who welcome them. This sharp increase translates into a 55 % growth of the average number of delegates to ICCA congresses, rising from 380 to 590 in 2017.

Since 2010, Paris has been consistently occupying the first or second position, reaffirming its prominence in the international meetings industry.

These results demonstrate the success of the promotional actions led by the professionals of the industry with the Convention Bureau of the Paris Convention and Visitors Bureau.
