Description

The Institut Giacometti is the place of reference in Paris dedicated to the work of Alberto Giacometti.
Situated in the 14th arrondissement, the Institut Giacometti presents to the public the collection of the Giacometti Foundation, universal legatee of the artist's wife Annette Giacometti. As such, it possesses the world's largest collection of works by Alberto Giacometti, including sculptures, drawings, paintings, photographs and objects by the artist.
Like Alberto Giacometti, who chose to live in the Montparnasse des Artistes, from his arrival in Paris in 1922 until his death in 1966, the Institut Giacometti welcomes the public in the heart of this historic district, at 5 rue Victor Schœlcher. At this address, in a former listed mansion by the artist-decorator Paul Follot, the Art Deco and Art Nouveau decor has been completely preserved, restored and refurbished. Since 2018, the Institut Giacometti has been inviting visitors to discover the artist's work in an unusual setting, just like a collector's house.
The Giacometti Institute permanently exhibits the presentation of the artist's studio, whose every element, furniture, painted walls, personal objects and works never before exhibited have been carefully preserved by Annette Giacometti. Also, throughout the year, a programme of temporary exhibitions offers new insights into Giacometti's work, through literary or other themes, his friends artists and writers of his time, but also his contemporaries.
Organize your event in a special cultural setting! The private areas of the Institut Giacometti include the 350m² exhibition rooms, the private reception rooms on the first floor in an intimate setting (40m²) and the Giacometti LAB (60m²).
